When We All Fall Down

Dear Reader,

You may have noticed that I have not posted in a while.

That is because my heart broke and my mind reeled when I heard the news about the Boston Marathon Bombing and the events that followed.

I'm not American. So why did I even care so much?

I guess because to me... it was a sign. It is the first terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11.

The sovereignty of the country... the security in which Americans and other peoples had trusted in... was suddenly gone like the wind.

And it had brought an entire country to a standstill.

I'm not going to delve into the question of what went wrong. I'm not even going to try to point fingers.

I'm just going to say the following.

It was a wake-up call.

From these events, it is decidedly clear that we cannot trust in man. Man will always fail us. Everything fails eventually.

The only one who never, ever fails is God.

When we decide to trust ourselves or put our trust in something other than God, we eventually trip and fall flat down on the ground.

Because by doing so... we are proud. We are proud of our own abilities, of our own efforts, of our accomplishments.

By doing that, we are basically telling God that we don't need His help to succeed in life.

That we don't need Him.

"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." -Proverbs 16:18, KJV

That's a scary thought, isn't it?

The events that occurred should wake us as Christians.

We should realize that this is a call for us to not put our trust in man.

It is a call for us to put our trust in God.

Because we will all fall down into destruction when we don't.

"Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord." -Jeremiah 17:5, KJV

The only time when we should willingly fall down is when we worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

So this is my call to you Christians out there.

Who are you going to fall down for? Your pride or your Savior?

God is calling us back to Him. Don't ignore His call.

One never knows when he will breathe his last breath. There is no excuse for ignoring our Savior's call.

Love you all and keeping you in my prayers. Be attentive to God's call in your life.

Yours truly,
Joanna
A Minister's Daughter
